Fairy Meadows
Verified FeaturedAbout Fairy Meadows
Fairy Meadows (Urdu: پری چراگاہ) is a lush alpine meadow situated at 3,306 metres above sea level in the Diamer District of Gilgit-Baltistan. It offers the most direct and iconic view of Nanga Parbat (8,126m) — the 9th highest mountain in the world and one of the deadliest. The meadow is reached by a thrilling jeep track to Tato village followed by a 3–4 hour trek through pine forests. The clear night skies reveal the Milky Way in full glory, and the sunrise view of Nanga Parbat is considered one of the most spectacular in the world.

Most surreal experience of my life
The sunrise view of Nanga Parbat from Fairy Meadows made me speechless. Woke up at 4:30am and the sky turned every shade of orange and pink on the mountain. The trek from Tato is challenging but every step is worth it.
Pakistan's best kept secret
I had no idea such a place existed. The stars at night are so bright and dense — I've never seen the Milky Way so clearly. The local hut-keeper was incredibly kind and cooked us chapati and daal at 3,300m!
Challenging access but rewarding
The jeep track is genuinely scary — not for the faint-hearted. But once you arrive, all concerns vanish. Go in July or August for best weather. Take extra warm clothes even in summer as nights are cold.
Nanga Parbat at sunrise = heaven
Woke at dawn to see Nanga Parbat glowing golden in the sunrise. Genuinely moved to tears. The meadow itself is like a carpet of green with wildflowers. One of the top 5 experiences of my life.
