Pakistan's most beautiful valley road
The 250 km drive through Neelum Valley is the most beautiful road I have ever been on. Dense forests, roaring rivers, waterfalls around every bend. Ratti Gali Lake at 3,700m is paradise. We camped there — woke to mist over the lake. Magical.
Undiscovered paradise of AJK
Most tourists don't reach beyond Keran but push all the way to Kel — the upper valley is extraordinary. Rainbow trout fresh from the river at Kutton is the best meal of your life. The locals are the most hospitable people I've ever met.
Worth the long drive from Islamabad
Left Islamabad at 4am, reached Neelum by 9am. Road condition is mostly good. The valley gets progressively more beautiful the further you go. Don't miss the Ratti Gali Lake if you have an extra day.
